Olé! Country Cooked brings Hecho En Mexico to Coles
Lovers of traditional street-style Mexican cuisine have already discovered Hecho En Mexico, which has opened more than 20 restaurants around Australia since it first began in Fitzroy, Melbourne, in 2013.
Now everyone can enjoy Hecho En Mexico (Made in Mexico) at home, with two of its most popular dishes now available ready to ‘heat and eat’ from Coles supermarkets, in collaboration with bespoke cooked protein specialists, Country Cooked.
This exclusive selection includes Hecho En Mexico Chicken Fajitas, featuring tantalising 12-hour marinated chicken fajita mix, and Hecho En Mexico Pulled Pork Tacos, showcasing its famous marinated Mexican pulled pork.
Both packs include enough flour tortillas and tomatillo salsa to make six tacos – just add your own shredded cheese and a squeeze of lime and they’re ready in 20 minutes!
Loui Marcocci is one of the founders of Country Cooked, part of family-owned Australian meat wholesaler and manufacturer University Food Group. He says there’s huge potential for more QSRs to extend their brand into retail, just as Hecho En Mexico has.
“It really is a win-win,” he says. Not only can fans of the restaurant find their favourite dishes at their local Coles supermarket, but the brand can also extend its reach to retail consumers.
“We have the ability and the agility to produce all kinds of protein-based products, both meat and plant-based,” he explains. “By working closely with our QSR and foodservice clients, we can deliver restaurant-quality, customised meal solutions that capture the flavours, authenticity and spirit of their brand.”
Discover Hecho En Mexico in the ready-to-eat aisle now at Coles Supermarkets.
